BMSC has developed the Home Care Clinical Specialist – OASIS (HCS-O) certification to assure your agency has a skilled, knowledgeable and productive clinical staff. Going well beyond understanding CMS guidelines, HCS-O certification is granted to clinicians who have demonstrated the clinical skills and judgment necessary to assess a patient’s condition correctly and the knowledge to complete an OASIS-D assessment form accurately. Clinicians with HCS-O certification know how to:

  • Complete the OASIS-D assessment form
  • Document medical necessity
  • Make connections between OASIS, documentation and coding
  • Measure and report outcomes

For more information about HCS-O certification and study resources, visit ahcc.decisionhealth.com, or purchase BMSC’s Home Care Clinical Specialist ‐ OASIS (HCS-O) Certification Study Guide, 2019.

Important facts about the HCS-O credentialing examination:

A separate registration and fee is required to sit for the exam on site.

Candidates MUST bring an OASIS Form Companion OR allowed documents. Resources will not be provided to exam candidates, nor is sharing allowed (among candidates).

BMSC has developed the Home Care Specialist – Compliance (HCS-C) credential for home care professionals skilled in establishing, implementing, and monitoring a home health agency’s compliance program, specifically with state and federal regulations related to agency operations. Successful HCS-C candidates will possess expertise in understanding and implementation of written policies, procedures and standards of conduct, understanding the 7 elements of a compliance program, ability to administer standards through nationally recognized disciplinary guidelines, and knowledge of the OIG’s standards. HCS-C certified specialists are considered leaders in the industry because they:

  • Administer Medicare regulations governing care delivery to beneficiaries
  • Implement and communicate the elements of an effective compliance program
  • Ensure that the program meets OIG standards in supporting the agency’s mission of delivering quality patient care and outreach to the community
  • Provide direction and training to less experienced staff
  • Monitor and audit an agency’s adherence to the program
